Department of Defense Education Activity
All after school clubs and activities (i.e. jump rope, art, music, math, sports, etc.)will normally meet only on days that the school follows a full day schedule, NOT on early release days. There is no extra-curricular activity bus for students who participate in these activities. Parents whose child frequently rides a bus must make transportation and/or other arrangements for the student to be picked up from school following the activity. Notification of these activities will be sent to the parent along with the day and time of the activity. In addition, due to unforeseen training, meetings, or teacher absences, an activity may be canceled without advanced notice. The sponsoring teacher will endeavor to notify students and parents of the canceled activity if time permits. If the activity is canceled at the last minute, students will be notified through the school intercom system at the end of the instructional day.

Sponsors of clubs and extracurricular activities determine academic and behavioral (disciplinary) requirements that students must meet to participate in school sponsored extracurricular activities or to hold a leadership position in a curriculum-related club, team or student organization.

Extra-Curricular School Activities Program

The "After-School Clubs" program is designed to be in harmony with RMS's philosophy, goals, and strategies. Care is taken to avoid emulating the high school activities program, especially in regard to athletics. Students have an opportunity to explore a wide variety of activities, which include both group and individual participation. Students participating in after school activities must report to the appropriate area no later than 2:00pm, unless other arrangements have been made. Students, who leave campus, may not return. If a student is not in an after school activity, they are not permitted to be on campus after 2:00pm, unless other arrangements have been made.

Open To: All RYMS Students (Grades 6-8)

Getting Home After Extra-Curricular School Activities Program

Pick-up/Walk

Parents are responsible for ensuring students have transportation home immediately following a school sponsored activity. Students should ensure they have parent permission to attend after-school activities prior to staying and have agreed upon transportation home.

Activity Buses

Buses will be provided twice a week in support of the extra-curricular activities program. They will depart the school at approximately 3:00pm, and will transport students to designated bus stops that are near areas of regular bus stops. The activity buses do not stop at all regularly scheduled bus stops.
