About Our School

The school year 2017-2018 is about transitioning while keeping traditions. In June, Bitburg High School closed its doors for the last time. The school had been a staple of Bitburg AFB for over 60 years. But operations were consolidating to Spangdahlem AFB, which meant the school had to move. At last, the elementary school, the middle school and the high school are on one campus again and all within walking distance of each other. The Barons of Bitburg High School became the Sentinels of Spangdahlem High School. So, while the majority of students and staff are the same, the new location in temporary quarters offers a chance to improve existing traditions while starting some new ones of their own. The temporary buildings will house the Sentinels until 2020 when a brand new 21st century Middle/High School will open and once again the students will need to transition into a new space while keeping the traditions of the past alive.

Students at Spangdahlem High School have many courses to choose from. The school offers over 10 AP classes, English Honors and many other tech savvy courses including virtual school courses that can complete any student's course schedule.

Rounding out the student's education, the school offers many sports and student activities. Football, cheerleading, tennis, volleyball, cross-country, golf, basketball and baseball are just some of the choices students have for sports. After school student activities include: Model United Nations (MUN), National Honor Society (NHS), Drama, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Student Council, Yearbook, STEM, Illuminations, Educator's Rising and S2S Ambassadors.  For a complete listing, please visit the Student Activities page.
