I am delighted to serve as the principal at The Sullivans Elementary School! The Sullivans School, located in Yokosuka, Japan, is the largest school in the Department of Defense Education Activity. We have over 1200 students enrolled in classes from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. However, The Sullivans Elementary School is very welcoming and has a small school atmosphere.
We have cultivated a culture which is prideful of Navy traditions. The Sullivans is named after the five brothers, Albert, Frank, Joseph, Matthew and George Sullivan, who all served in the US Navy during WWII. As part of our tradition, every new student is "rung in" and welcomed "on deck" as a new Dolphin. Every student that PCS's out is "rung out" and reminded that as a student at the Sullivans, they are "once a Dolphin, always a Dolphin."
We have a dedicated and committed faculty and staff of very qualified educators. They proudly serve the military in this capacity. Our mission is to Educate, Engage, and Empower each student to succeed in a dynamic world. Our educators strive to fulfill this mission by providing differentiated instruction to promote highest student achievement and ensure that each student is successful. In addition, along with our academic curriculum, we also offer diverse courses which include Physical Education, Music, Art, Host Nation Language and Culture, as well as a variety of extra-curricular activities to include Homework Club, Math Bee, Ele-Boosters, Safety Patrol, Sign Language and more!
Our warm, safe and nurturing environment welcomes our parents and community. We invite you to visit and consider volunteering within the school. Most importantly, communicate with your child's teacher on a regular basis. We know the importance and benefits of partnership with our parents. You are vital to our mission and it is an honor to serve you!
