I would like to take this opportunity to officially welcome you to our school. Tarawa Terrace (TT) is a place where great things happen for kids.
The staff of this school works diligently to stay abreast of the most progressive teaching practices in order to address the educational needs of each student. Educating the total child at TT means helping every child become informed and caring stewards of their world. We strive to impart a global awareness by helping our students think critically and access information. These are skills that a 21st Century citizenry must possess in order to achieve the American Dream in this age of technology and rapid change. This idea is embodied in our mission statement- "TT Elementary School develops lifelong learners and responsible citizens who make their community a better place."
The staff of TT takes great pride in building relationships and partnerships with parents for the purpose of realizing our mission. We, here at TT, recognize the special challenges faced by the families of those who serve our country in the armed forces. There are many services and programs offered to our students to help meet the unique needs of our population. Should you wish to know more about any of our instructional programs, please feel free to contact the school anytime.
As the instructional leader of TT, my door is always open to our community stakeholders. Please feel free to come by our school and visit or volunteer as time permits.
Hello Parents and Students,
Welcome to School Year 2022-2023. I am your new Assistant Principal, Ms. Harvey, here at TTES.
I hope you all had a wonderful, safe, fun-filled summer and looking forward to the new school year! I am excited to have the opportunity of meeting and getting to know all of you; especially, you, boys and girls. I look forward to building great partnerships with each of you throughout this school year.
I am returning to the Mid-Atlantic District, Camp Lejeune, after completing SY 2021-2022 as one of the Lead Administrators for the DoDEA Virtual School (DVS). I was responsible for supervising teachers and staff in 3 different Regions: Americas, Europe and the Pacific, enforcing the Florida Virtual School Curriculum.
Prior to me joining the DVS Team, I completed 6 years at Johnson Primary School (JPS). Previous assignments, in Camp Lejeune District, includes Assistant Principal at Heroes Elementary School (2014-2015), Interim Principal at JPS (2015-2016), and from 2016-2021, as Assistant Principal at JPS. Of course, as I stated last school year, as a Lead Administrator for DoDEA Virtual School (2021-2022). This is my 33rd year in DoDEA. Prior to joining DoDEA, I completed 7 years in the Public-School Systems (Alabama and California from 1982-1989). I served as Assistant Principal at SHAPE American Elementary School in SHAPE, Belgium from 2011-2014; I resided in the Kaiserslautern District from 2003-2009, as Principal of Sembach Elementary School; and as Assistant Principal at Argonner Elementary School from 1999-2003, Hessen/Heidelberg District., Germany. My overseas career started in 1989. It included: Special Education Teacher at Gelnhausen Elementary School in Hanau, Germany; an Itinerate Teacher at Buedingen & Babenhausen Elementary Schools. Other teaching experiences included teaching Kindergarten, PSCD & SPED (K-12).
I look forward to building collaborative partnerships, as a team player, under the leadership of one of the greatest, our Principal, Ms. Leigh Anne Kapiko. We will RISE and SOAR to the top…doing what’s BEST for our students!
Welcome to School Year 2022-2023!
