National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 - October 15

September 14, 2020 Hispanic Heritage observations began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and were expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period. The expansion was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.

School Improvement Goals

Math Goal:

  • All students in Grades 3-5 at Van Voorhis Elementary School will increase their achievement in Math on the CCRS Summative Assessment from 43% "Meets and Exceeds" in SY 17-18 to 49% "Meets and Exceeds" in SY 19-20.

Literacy Goal:

  • All students in Grades K-3 will increase their achievement in Literacy as measured by Benchmark Assessment System (BAS) in "above the standard" or "at the standard" from 73% in SY 17-18 to 76% scoring "above the standard" or "at the standard" in SY 19-20.
  • All students in grades 4th - 5th will increase their achievement in Literacy as measured by Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI) in "advance" or "proficient" from 72% in SY 17-18 to 75% scoring in "advance" or "proficient" in SY 19 - 20.
