Department of Defense Education Activity

Dr. Michelle L. Jones - Vilseck HS Principal

Ms. Jones is excited and looking forward to joining the community at Vilseck High School. Her passion is educating, engaging and empowering the students, teachers, and staff she leads. Ms. Jones fosters the development of students academically, socially, and emotionally in order for students to become independent and active problem solvers in our global 21st century society. As a former military spouse, she understands the diverse needs of military-connected students.

Ms. Jones began her teaching career at the age of 20 at Parrish High School and then Cordova Elementary School in Alabama. She then expanded her influence to Texas, where she joined the Killeen Independent School District. When the prospect to join the DoDEA team developed, she eagerly accepted and her family began one of life’s greatest journeys. Ms. Jones spent the first nine years in the DoDEA school system at Kitzingen Elementary School (Germany) supporting the needs of military-connected students and their families. In 2006, she transferred to Kinser Elementary School in Okinawa. While there, she had the privilege to serve as Assistant Principal at E.C. Killin Elementary School and then as Principal at Bob Hope Primary School. She then served as the Principal of Osan Elementary School in South Korea, the first 21st Century school to open in the Pacific West District. Most recently has served the past three years as the Chief of Staff in Pacific South (Okinawa, Japan).

Ms. Jones recently defended her thesis topic for her doctorate in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Organizational Leadership, Communication, and Professional Counseling through Amridge University in Alabama. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Master’s degree in both Elementary Education and Education Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Ms. Jones continues to keep children at the heart of all she does. Ms. Jones, her spouse, Brian, and daughter, Autumn, look forward to returning to Germany and being a part of the Vilseck High School community and Europe East team.
