NJHS has remained busy this school year serving both the school and the larger community. In October, members volunteered to help run “Kiddie Corner” at West Point’s Oktoberfest, which was celebrated at the Victor Constant Ski Slopes. This is an annual tradition and vibrant partnership with WPSC’s Community Outreach. Stations included face painting, pumpkin painting, and three other arts and crafts.
In November, members volunteered to help the local food pantry with their Thanksgiving food distribution, and this month the focus is on making sure that children in the local and extended area of Orange County enjoy a fun-filled Christmas. Over 25 gifts were donated directly from NJHS members to the local food pantry’s holiday party for children ages 9-12, and they’re currently embarking upon a school collection effort for the Marine’s Toys-for-Tots program in Orange County. Please donate unwrapped, new toys to this important cause. Collection boxes are located in the main hallway entrance to the middle school, as well as in select grade-level classrooms. NJHS has issued a fun holiday challenge via a competition between grades 6, 7, and 8. The grade-level collecting the greatest number of gifts will enjoy a holiday movie viewing, along with snacks, provided by NJHS.
WPMS’ National Junior Honor Society is currently 26 members strong. We enthusiastically extend to all of our West Point families sincere wishes for a safe, relaxing, and Happy Thanksgiving!
