West Point Middle School Athletics

  • West Point Middle School offers a variety of extra-curricular sports in which eligible 7th and 8th grade students may participate. In addition we offer a number of intramural activities in which 5th and 6th grade students may participate.

  • Interscholastic Sports:
  • Eligibility: 7th and 8th Grade Students
  • Teacher/Sponsor: Various

  • Intramural Activities:
  • Players engage in friendly yet competitive activities. Each session ends with the very popular student vs. staff game.
  • Eligibility: 5th and 6th Grade Students
  • Meeting Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1430 to 1525
  • Teacher/Sponsor: Various
  • In order to participate in any athletic activities, the student must first be registered at Youth Services, which requires a current sports physical. Registration for each specific sport is conducted at Parent Central, located at the Lee CDC behind Subway. Their contact number is 938-4458/3969.
  • Fall

  • Soccer (boys)
  • Volleyball (girls)
  • Cross Country (boys and girls)
    • September to late October.
    • Participants will be introduced to the sport of Cross Country running and competing.
    • Meets are held at local schools on 1.5 mile courses against other teams in the OCIAA League, Section 9.


  • Intramural Kickball, September through early November, p layers compete in outdoor kickball games on different teams each session.

  • Winter

  • Basketball (boy and girls)
  • 7th and 8th grade.
  • Late November to early February.
  • Intramural Volleyball
  • Grades 5 and 6
  • January to early March.
  • Season highlights include a Students vs. Staff culminating game, as well as occasional clinics from the WPMS Volleyball team and the USMA Volleyball team when available.

  • Spring

  • Track and Field (7th and 8th grade boys and girls)
  • March to late May.
  • Participants will be introduced to sprinting, middle, and long distance running, as well as shot put, discus, long jump, triple jump, and high jump. Meets are held against other teams in the OCIAA League, Section 9.
  • Intramurals:
    Ultimate Frisbee/Freedom Ball
  • Mid-March through May
  • Students will be able to play indoor freedom ball and outdoor ultimate Frisbee, as the weather permits.
