School Excellence

DoDEA is dedicated to developing and sustaining high-performing schools with innovative, collaborative, and caring cultures. DoDEA will pursue School Excellence through two Strategic Initiatives:

System of Differentiated Professional Learning and Prioritize Instructional Leadership. DoDEA is committed to guiding educators as they grow their practices by providing high-quality standards and curriculum accompanied by the tools to continuously improve instruction

DoDEA is committed to being a school system where excellent instruction is delivered in every classroom, every educator and leader receives ongoing support, and every school is equipped with the resources needed for continuous improvement.

Why Statement: Why this now?

DoDEA strives to ensure that every student in every classroom receives a world-class education. This demands a robust system of professional learning and support designed to build capacity for quality instruction, as educator growth directly impacts student achievement. Just as data-informed, responsive instruction is necessary for student growth, differentiated and job-embedded professional learning for all educators is essential to ensure consistent instructional excellence across DoDEA. These efforts are especially vital as our school system faces dynamic student needs and evolving technologies that require adaptive, future-ready teaching and leadership. Research shows that school and district leaders play a vital role in improving student learning when they prioritize instructional leadership, which can be challenging due to the many competing demands on leaders’ time. DoDEA is committed to streamlining administrative processes to empower school and district leaders to prioritize actions that improve teaching and learning. By acting now, DoDEA is laying the groundwork for a future in which leaders are empowered to prioritize instructional leadership, ensuring all educators are supported so that every student can excel.

Measures of Success:

  • Efficiency and quantity of administrative processes for school and district leaders
  • Delivery and impact of coaching and other instructional supports for educators
  • Program monitoring of professional learning delivery
  • Impact of professional learning on instruction
