Student Excellence

Students are at the heart of all DoDEA does, and DoDEA is committed to preparing each student to maximize their academic growth and well-being for college, career, and life. DoDEA will implement three Strategic Initiatives in pursuit of Student Excellence: Multi-Tiered System of Supports, Future-Ready Learner, and Student Transitions. These Initiatives will support instruction that is rigorous, differentiated, and meets the needs of DoDEA's student population.

DoDEA is committed to fostering a learning environment that prioritizes student success. We are dedicated to preparing every student for success in college, career, and life through excellent instruction and a responsive system of supports tailored to individual needs.

Why Statement: Why this now?

DoDEA’s drive for improvement stems from a rapidly evolving educational landscape and the growing recognition that academic achievement alone is no longer sufficient to prepare students for the complexities of modern life. In today’s world, students must be equipped not only with strong academic foundations but also with the resilience, adaptability, and well-being necessary to thrive in dynamic environments. The focus on data-informed interventions and extensions reflects DoDEA’s commitment to providing excellent education for every student, ensuring that each student receives the support they need, when they need it. This is especially critical now, as schools face increasing variability in student needs. Simultaneously, expanding opportunities for students to be prepared to succeed in a dynamic world is essential. Emphasizing student transitions ensures continuity of support as students move between grades, schools, districts, countries, and school systems. DoDEA is refining a responsive, future-ready educational system that not only meets students where they are but also empowers them to reach their full potential in a rapidly changing world.

Measures of Success:

  • Growth and proficiency in math
  • Students reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade
  • Implementation of interventions and extensions based on student need
  • Student preparedness for college coursework
  • High school student participation and proficiency in college-level coursework
  • Students demonstrate proficiency of career-related skills
  • Students creating and updating future-ready plans
  • Timeliness of transitioning student data, plans, and services
