DoWEA Stakeholder Feedback Survey (SFS)
The DoWEA Stakeholder Feedback Survey (SFS) is an important component of the Department of War Education Activity’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement. The survey provides students, parents and sponsors with a confidential opportunity to share their perspectives on their school experiences, providing insight that may not be captured through other data sources.
The updated DoWEA Blueprint for Continuous Improvement reinforces our commitment to transparency, accountability, and Service Excellence. Under new leadership, DoWEA is expanding access to Stakeholder Feedback Survey results by releasing data at the school level, providing parents with greater insight into their child’s educational experience and empowering informed engagement with their school community.
The release of the 2026 Stakeholder Feedback Survey results marks an important step in DoWEA’s commitment to transparency, engagement and continuous improvement. More importantly, it demonstrates a critical part of effective communication: closing the communication cycle.
Note: Some parents will not find their schools’ results on the dashboard to protect the anonymity of the limited number of respondents who completed the survey. Contact your school principal for more information.
“From Feedback to Action” is DoWEA’s effort to demonstrate how stakeholder feedback is collected, reviewed, communicated and used to inform continuous improvement. The campaign emphasizes that listening to students and families is only the beginning; the goal is to show how their feedback contributes to action.
Releasing the results is part of DoWEA’s commitment to transparency and meaningful engagement with military-connected families. Sharing the findings allows stakeholders to see what was heard, understand areas of strength and identify opportunities for continued improvement.
The survey gathered input from parents and students across DoWEA schools worldwide. Their perspectives provide valuable insight into the educational experience and help inform agency and school improvement efforts.
Overall, the results reflect strong stakeholder confidence in the learning environment. Respondents reported positive perceptions of school and classroom safety, relationships among teachers, students and parents, academic expectations and overall satisfaction.
The survey identified several opportunities for continued growth, including increasing parent involvement in school improvement efforts and activities, strengthening academic reporting and opportunities for parent feedback, improving communication related to bullying and student behavior incidents, and enhancing student engagement and achievement in mathematics and English language arts.
DoWEA will use the results to help inform planning, identify priorities and support continuous improvement. Feedback will contribute to conversations at the agency, district and school levels as leaders and educators consider how to strengthen the educational experience for students and families.
Not necessarily. Survey feedback is one source of information used alongside other data, research, professional expertise and operational considerations. The purpose of the survey is to identify trends, strengths and opportunities that can help inform decisions and improvement efforts.

Yes. Individual survey responses remain confidential. DoWEA releases aggregate results rather than individual responses.

DoWEA anticipates conducting the Stakeholder Feedback Survey again in 2027. Additional information will be shared as the survey period approaches.
Families are encouraged to remain engaged with their schools and participate in opportunities for feedback throughout the year. Questions or concerns can be shared through established school and district communication channels.
Closing the communication cycle means listening to stakeholders, reviewing and understanding their feedback, taking appropriate action and communicating back to those who provided the input. It ensures engagement is an ongoing conversation rather than a one-time survey.
