DoWEA's Chain of Command

The Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA) is a Department of War field activity operating under the direction and authority of the Under Secretary of War for Personnel and Readiness.

DoWEA plans, directs, coordinates, and manages Prekindergarten (PK) through 12th grade education programs for school-aged children of Department of War personnel who would otherwise not have access to high-quality public education. DoWEA schools are located in Europe, the Pacific, Western Asia, the Middle East, Cuba, the United States, Guam, and Puerto Rico. DoWEA also provides support and resources to Local Educational Activities throughout the United States that serve children of military families.
