As Community Superintendent of the Guam Field Office, Mr. Jimmy Journey is responsible for over 2,600 students, 450 employees, and an annual budget of approximately $36 million.
Originally from Texas, Mr. Journey received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Sam Houston University. He joined DoDEA in 1989 teaching third and fourth grade as well as special education for 15 years before making the transition to School Administration. Mr. Journey has worked as principal in mainland Japan and Okinawa from 2002-2013.
Prior to arriving to Guam, Mr. Journey served DoDEA as an Assistant Superintendent of the Japan District from January 2013 to July of 2016. Mr. Journey believes that communication is vital to the success of any operation. As a principal, he focused on creating an environment where students were comfortable coming to school and challenged to do their best every day. He encourages parents to be active partners in their children's education.
Mr. Journey is excited to join the Guam Field Office and to work with each school to ensure that students are encouraged to strive to reach their maximum potential.
