Dr. Tonya Laliberte

Dr. Tonya Laliberte has been named Superintendent for the Georgia/Alabama Community, encompassing Fort Benning, Fort Rucker, and Maxwell Air Force Base school. A proud native of rural Texas, Dr. Tonya Laliberte has dedicated her life to education, leadership, and service to military-connected students.

With a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, a Master’s in Curriculum and Technology, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Dr. Laliberte’s academic journey reflects her unwavering commitment to excellence and lifelong learning. Her career began in San Antonio, Texas, where she taught middle school ELA, Social Studies, and electives. She later taught third grade in Kansas before returning to Texas, serving in Irving, Arlington, and Keller ISDs across grades 3–6 for fourteen impactful years. In 2010, Dr. Laliberte joined DoWEA as a gifted education teacher at Fort Campbell, KY, launching a distinguished career that has spanned continents. 

She has held leadership roles in Japan and Germany, including Principal of Yokota Middle School and Wiesbaden Elementary, where she guided the school community through a major 21st Century facility transition. As a Professional Practice Improvement Specialist in Europe, she coached school leaders and designed professional learning across the region. Most recently, she served as Community Superintendent of Europe West UK at RAF Feltwell. 

Dr. Laliberte is excited to embrace this new opportunity to support the schools and communities of America’s Southeast District across Georgia/Alabama. Her passion for education, leadership development, and military-connected students drives her every step. She is inspired daily by her family—her husband Shannon, whose steadfast support has been instrumental, and her three children, two of whom are proud DoWEA graduates. Her youngest, Christian, is a high school senior with a love for baseball. 

Dr. Laliberte brings energy, experience, and heartfelt dedication to this new chapter—and is excited to make a lasting impact.
