Mr. Hugh McKinnon, Community Superintendent for Fort Campbell Schools, is pleased to announce effective June 18, Ms. Nicole Melendez will become the new principal of Barkley Elementary School.

Malone named Special Education Instructional System Specialist (ISS) Supervisor for DoDEA Americas, Mid-Atlantic District

Dr. Judith Minor, the Department of Defense Education Activity Americas Director for Student Excellence, is pleased to announce Ms. Mary Beth Malone as the new Special Education Instructional System Specialist (ISS) Supervisor for DoDEA Americas, Mid-Atlantic District. She will support the 26 DoDEA schools in New York, Virginia, North Carolina, Cuba, and Puerto Rico in this position.

National Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage observations began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and were expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period. The expansion was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.
