Mr. DeAngelo Galang is the Academic Far East Program ISS for the DoDEA Pacific Region Office located in Okinawa, Japan. He is responsible for the management and execution of all Region-wide Academic Events for the Pacific. He directly supports the region and district by providing extensive knowledge of DoDEA educational programs and systems and collaboration with various HQ divisions and internal and external stakeholders across DoDEA and the Pacific.

Mr. Galang has successfully submitted proposals that resulted in over $75,000 to support the K-12 STEM Outreach program with the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, a High School robotics competition, and the DoD Tri-Service Junior Science & Humanities Symposium.

Mr. Galang has coordinated with various stakeholders to create a three-year implementation plan and has mobilized resources to fund this STEM initiative, including a grant from DoD STEM.

Going beyond the scope of his traditional role, Mr. Galang has served on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and DoDEA leadership team, which oversees the Youth Exchange Program. This program has provided opportunities for international exchange and to grow mutual understanding between DoDEA middle and high students and their counterparts in the local community outside the base.

Mr. Galang has consistently collaborated with stakeholders to creatively find solutions to inch towards a fully in-person Far East event. Since the fall, 60 teachers and 420 students have participated in a Pacific Region Funded Academic activity.

Mr. Galang’s impact is felt throughout the Pacific region. He is always positive and is noticed by colleagues and senior leaders. He is solution orientated and routinely operates above his peers. He truly reflects DoDEA’s vision of “Excellence in Education for Every Student, Every Day, Everywhere.
