Award Recognizes Proficiency in a Second Language

Jun 25, 2026

The Seal of Biliteracy (SOBL) is an official recognition that students have demonstrated proficiency in English and at least one other language. Earning the seal of biliteracy demonstrates for students that they are persistent, dedicated, and hardworking. And all three of those qualities are perfect for all types of students, whether they are pursuing post-secondary education, whether they are going into the workforce or whether they are going into the military. Multilingual is being able to speak and think in more than one language. The official SOBL seal on your diploma says that student can walk into a university, can walk into a job, and they have proof that they have a level of literacy in another language.
