Kaiserslautern High School Hosts District-wide College Night
College Night at Kaiserslautern High School was a resounding success, drawing an estimated 1,500 attendees from across the district. The KHS Raiders welcomed over 42 colleges, universities, technical programs, military recruiters, and community scholarship organizations to campus for the annual event.
The evening was coordinated by Lynn Rice, USAG Rheinland-Pfalz School Liaison Officer, who has led the effort for the past four years at Kaiserslautern High School. “Each year, we aim to make College Night more interactive and inclusive,” Rice shared. “Seeing students from across the district connect with institutions and envision their futures makes all the planning worth it.”
Attendees received firsthand opportunities to meet with recruiters from both international and American universities and gather resources to help inform their career planning. Dr. Wagers, a KHS school counselor, emphasized the value of the event: “We have a powerful college and career readiness platform—School Links—that we utilize to assist students in their career exploration, but the opportunity to develop relationships with admissions counselors and learn about the various programs and scholarships is invaluable to supporting students to make the right choice and find the right fit for their futures.”

Students from Baumholder, Ramstein, and Stuttgart joined their Raider colleagues to explore opportunities for dual enrollment, international study, and technical programs. Many participated in a college scavenger hunt bingo, practicing their interviewing skills while engaging with admissions representatives and filling in their bingo squares.
Junior Lamya F. from Kaiserslautern High School shared, “There were more people than I expected, so it was crowded. It was a little hard to listen or hear information, but it was an interesting experience. I never really planned to go to college unless I’m offered a scholarship. Learning about certain colleges has made me reconsider and explore more opportunities like financial aid, school locations, and majors.”
“It’s always exciting to see so many of our KHS and DoDEA-Europe students actively engaged and focused on their future,” said Dr. Linda Sevigny, KHS AVID Coordinator. “From an AVID perspective, my heart and soul simply danced! It was amazing to witness the genuine excitement that our students shared about their future and to watch each one of them proactively planning a pathway forward!”
College Night wasn’t just an event; it was a launchpad. Students left inspired, families felt empowered, and the entire school community came together around a shared mission: preparing for the future. That’s what makes this night so powerful.
