DAEGU, South Korea – DoWEA Pacific West District has officially wrapped its the 7th Annual Harry Potter Reading Competition (HPRC), with more than 2,400 participants from four schools – Daegu Middle High School (Gryffindor), Humphreys Middle School (Hufflepuff), Osan Middle High School (Ravenclaw), and Humphreys High School (Slytherin) successfully completed the full seven-book cycle.

Every week, students proved their dedication by tackling complex trivia, creative activities, and deep-dive questions to earn House Points. These efforts culminated in the adrenaline-filled virtual Trivia Match held every Friday, where knowledge was put to the ultimate test.

The impact on students has been profound.

"HPRC is not just about reading, but learning the point of view of the different characters and learning about bravery and courage," said Ruth K., a fifth grader at Humphreys Middle.

Fellow 5th grader Emily K. agreed, noting the academic challenge.

"It really made me not just read, but think about the story for the trivia and deep-dive questions. It was fun," Emily shared.

While the competition was fierce, the real magic was seeing students and staff come together across the peninsula to celebrate a shared love of stories. Congratulations to every student who picked up a book and contributed to their House points. The 2026 House Cup goes to Hufflepuff (Humphreys Middle School) and the Trivia Cup goes to Slytherin (Humphreys High School).

With the seven-book cycle now complete, the magic isn't over. Just like any good book, we’re ready to read them again and again. We’ll be going back to Hogwarts with book one, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, next year in 2027!
