Remembering September 11 - Service, Sacrifice, and Our Shared Commitment
On September 11, we pause to remember a day that forever changed our nation and honor the lives lost, the families who continue to carry that loss, and the many Americans who answered the call to serve in the days and years that followed.
The significance of September 11 extends beyond the events of that morning. It reminds us of the strength found in unity, the courage demonstrated through service, and the responsibility we share to support one another and uphold the values that bring our nation together.
In the face of tragedy, Americans came together. First responders ran toward danger. Service members stepped forward to defend our nation. Communities supported one another with compassion and resolve. Their actions demonstrated the very best of who we are as a country.
For our DoWEA community, September 11 holds a special meaning. Our students, families, educators, and employees are connected to a tradition of service and sacrifice. Many within our community have experienced the challenges and responsibilities that come with serving our nation, and we remain committed to honoring that service through the education and support we provide every day.
As educators, we have the unique responsibility to help the next generation understand the importance of civic responsibility, resilience, and the strength that comes when people stand together. By teaching our students about history and the values that unite us, we help prepare them to become engaged, informed, and responsible citizens.
Today, we remember those we lost. We honor those who served. And we recommit ourselves to the ideals that continue to bring America together—service, courage, compassion, and unity.
Thank you to our military-connected families, educators, and employees for your continued dedication to our students and our nation.
