Student Musicians Spread Holiday Cheer at Panzer Exchange
STUTTGART, Germany — The sounds of the holiday season filled the Panzer Exchange on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, as student musicians led by Mrs. Merrillan Watson performed Christmas carols for shoppers, continuing a festive tradition that has become a highlight of the season for the military community.
Current and former string students from Robinson Elementary School, Patch Elementary School, Stuttgart Elementary School, and Patch Middle School came together for the performance, showcasing their musical skills while sharing holiday spirit with families, service members and community members shopping at the Exchange.
The Panzer Exchange has partnered with Watson for several years, welcoming student string ensembles each December as part of its holiday celebrations. The performances have become a familiar and anticipated experience, with shoppers often pausing to listen, hum along and enjoy the festive atmosphere created by the live music.
The collaborative performance also gave students a unique opportunity to play alongside peers from different schools, reinforcing teamwork and a shared sense of community across the Stuttgart military community. For many students, performing in a public setting helped build confidence while demonstrating how music can connect people during the holiday season.
Community members expressed appreciation for the cheerful performances, noting that the familiar carols added warmth and joy to their shopping experience. For the students, the event offered a meaningful way to give back and spread holiday cheer through their talents.
With smiles, music and seasonal spirit filling the Exchange, the performance highlighted the positive impact of arts education and community partnerships. Students and families alike are already looking forward to returning next year to once again share the sounds of the season.
