White Elementary hosts Assistant Secretary of War Tim Dill
Assistant Secretary of War for Manpower and Reserve Affairs Tim Dill, along with Mr. Robert Stone, Executive Deputy to the Commanding General, Maneuver Center of Excellence, and COL Daniel Grassetti, Office of the Under Secretary of War (Personnel and Readiness), toured E.A. White Elementary School on Thursday as part of an official visit to observe teaching and learning in a Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA) school.
During the tour, Secretary Dill and the visiting delegation observed high-quality instruction, including effective teacher teams sharing instructional responsibility for all students under the 21st century neighborhoods model. The group also viewed prekindergarten students engaged in outdoor choice time.
The visit concluded with a working debrief. Discussions focused on opportunities to improve the hiring process and strengthen systemic student growth tracking through better data systems. All conversations centered on continuous improvement and potential policy enhancements to better support schools.
“Hosting Assistant Secretary of War Tim Dill was a tremendous opportunity for our Southeast District. His visit reinforced the vital connection between our nation’s defense leadership and the exceptional education we provide to military-connected students. Seeing our dedicated educators delivering high-quality instruction grounded in high levels of student engagement, clear standards of learning, and great care for our students made us all proud,” said Mr. Greg Bull, Southeast District Superintendent. “We are grateful for Secretary Dill’s engagement and look forward to continuing this important partnership to support DoWEA schools, service members, and their families.”
The tour underscored DoWEA’s commitment to building strong academic environments grounded in civic understanding and patriotism through rigorous instruction, clear standards and visible student achievement in core subjects.
