Department of War Education Activity Announces Tiffany Hoben as Chief Academic Officer
Alexandria, VA —
The Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA) is pleased to announce that Ms. Tiffany Hoben will serve as its new Chief Academic Officer, effective March 23, 2026.
Ms. Hoben brings more than two decades of experience in education to this role, having served as both a teacher and as an administrator. Notably, she was the Regional Director of K-12 Civics Literacy at the Florida Department of Education, where she was responsible for implementing the Civics Literacy Excellence Initiative, as well as the revised Civics and Government standards for more than 1 million students across the state; advising district leaders on the effective rollout of state-level education policies; and building partnerships with outside organizations dedicated to providing high-quality resources and professional learning for Florida teachers.
Ms. Hoben also brings several years of military experience to the position, having served in the Florida National Guard as a Combat Medic Specialist.
“Tiffany Hoben is a proven leader with a deep commitment to educational excellence and student achievement,” said DoWEA Director Paul Craft. “Her experience leading instructional initiatives and her dedication to serving students and educators make her exceptionally well-suited to guide DoWEA’s academic vision. We are confident she will continue to strengthen our mission of supporting military-connected students around the globe.”
Ms. Hoben, who earned her Master of Arts in Education Administration from the University of South Florida, will succeed previous DoWEA Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Jayme Linton.
“Dr. Linton’s leadership and commitment to students have helped DoWEA to strengthen our academic programs,” said Director Craft. “We thank her for her service and wish her continued success.”
As Chief Academic Officer, Ms. Hoben will lead DoWEA’s academic programs, ensuring continued innovation and excellence, while advancing a strong focus on patriotism, classical learning, and civics education in support of military-connected students worldwide.
