DoDEA Americas Southeast District Announces Dr. Tonya Laliberte as New Georgia-Alabama Community Superintendent
Fort Benning, GA —
Mr. Greg Bull, DoDEA Southeast District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Tonya Laliberte as the new Superintendent for the Georgia/Alabama Community. In this role, Laliberte will oversee schools serving military-connected students at Fort Benning, Fort Rucker, and Maxwell Air Force Base.

Her deep commitment to educational excellence, her global leadership experience, and her passion for serving military-connected students make her an incredible asset," said Bull. "I'm confident she will bring tremendous energy and vision to our schools, and I look forward to the positive impact she will make across our communities."
A proud native of rural Texas, Laliberte has dedicated her career to education, leadership, and supporting military families. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master's in Curriculum and Technology, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, underscoring her commitment to excellence and lifelong learning.
Laliberte's professional journey began in San Antonio, Texas, where she taught middle school English Language Arts, Social Studies, and electives. She later taught third grade in Kansas before returning to Texas, serving in the Irving, Arlington, and Keller Independent School Districts across grades 3–6 for 14 impactful years.
In 2010, Laliberte joined the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) as a gifted education teacher at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, marking the start of a distinguished international career. She has held key leadership positions in Japan and Germany, including Principal of Yokota Middle School and Wiesbaden Elementary School, where she successfully guided the community through a transition to a 21st-century facility. As a Professional Practice Improvement Specialist in Europe, she coached school leaders and designed professional development programs across the region. Most recently, she served as Community Superintendent for Europe West UK at RAF Feltwell.

"My passion for education, leadership development, and military-connected students drives me every day, and I look forward to making a lasting impact in Georgia and Alabama."
Laliberte draws daily inspiration from her family, including her husband Shannon, whose unwavering support has been instrumental, and her three children.
