Family and Stakeholder Engagement Officers to strengthen communication and partnerships

As part of its commitment to educational excellence and continuous improvement, the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA) is introducing Family and Stakeholder Engagement Officers (FSEOs) across the agency.

The FSEO role is aligned with the July 2026 DoWEA Blueprint for Continuous Improvement and represents a strategic investment in strengthening communication, collaboration, and partnerships.

FSEOs help foster meaningful relationships between DoWEA schools and the communities they serve, creating a more coordinated and transparent approach to stakeholder engagement and ensuring families and community partners have clear pathways to connect.

"Strong partnerships between schools, families, and communities are essential to student success," said DoWEA Director Paul Craft. "The Family and Stakeholder Engagement Officer position provides a dedicated focus on listening, collaborating, and ensuring stakeholder voices are heard."

FSEOs work closely with school leaders, District Superintendents, Regional Directors, military installation leadership, School Liaison Officers, parents, guardians, and community organizations to strengthen communication and support student achievement. A key part of that effort involves coordinating and supporting advisory committees, which provide important opportunities for parents, military leaders, and community stakeholders to share perspectives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across DoWEA.

Through stronger partnerships and improved communication channels, FSEOs will help ensure stakeholders remain informed, engaged, and connected to the educational experience of military-connected students.
