The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Pacific are excited to once again offer the Student Educational Exchange and Dialogue (SEED) program at U.S. military installations in Japan during the 2025-26 school year.

Launched in 2020, SEED is a two-day event that brings Japanese students and DoDEA students together to take part in hands-on activities designed to foster diverse perspectives, promote mutual understanding, bridge language barriers, and build problem-solving skills.

“SEED is a unique opportunity for our DoDEA students to build relationships with their host nation peers,” said Ms. Lois Rapp, DoDEA Pacific Region Director for Student Excellence. “At the culmination of each event, participants walk away with a better understanding our cultural similarities and differences – and many new friendships.”

The 2025-26 Student Educational Exchange and Dialogue schedule is as follows:

  • September 20-21, 2025   -   Iwakuni (MC Perry High School & Iwakuni MS)
  • September 27, 2025   -   Kadena (Ryukyu MS) – Lock in event
  • October 18-19, 2025   -   Yokota (Yokota MS & HS)
  • October 25-26, 2025   -   Sasebo (EJ King MHS)
  • December 6-7, 2025   -   Zama (Zama MHS)
  • January 24-25, 2026   -   Yokosuka (Kinnick HS & Yokosuka MS)
