Ms. Amy Phillips selected as principal at M.C. Perry Primary
Iwakuni, Japan —
IWAKUNI, Japan – Department of War Education Activity Pacific East District Superintendent Dr. Jacqueline Ferguson is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Amy Phillips as principal of M.C. Perry Primary School, effective August 2026.
Ms. Phillips brings more than 27 years of experience in education to M.C. Perry Primary School, including 11 years in school administration and three years as principal at Iwakuni Middle School. She joined DoDEA in 2020 as an Instructional Systems Specialist for ELA/Social Studies supporting Guam and Pacific West schools. In 2021, Ms. Phillips accepted the role of assistant principal at Sollars Elementary School on Misawa Air Base.
Prior to joining DOWEA, her work in education spanned 22 years in Texas schools serving students, families, and her community through roles in teaching, coaching, curriculum support, and school leadership. Ms. Phillips holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Texas Woman’s University, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of North Texas, and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
A lifelong educator, Ms. Phillips is honored to continue serving military-connected students and families at MCAS Iwakuni.
