New Superintendent for GA/AL District Announced

It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Christy Cabezas has been selected and has accepted the Georgia/Alabama District Superintendent's position. Dr. Cabezas comes to DDESS from the Harris County (Georgia) Schools where she has served as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment since 2009. She began her career as an educator in 1997 when she taught 9th through 12th grade life and physical sciences at Harris County High School (HCHS). She also served as the Guidance Department Chair and the Secondary Curriculum Coordinator at HCHS.   

Dr. Cabezas earned her Doctorate Degree in Administration of Elementary and Secondary Education from Auburn University, in Auburn, AL. She earned her Education Specialist in Education Leadership and Administration and her Master Degree in Educational Administration and Leadership from Troy University, in Phenix City, AL. Dr. Cabezas earned her Master's Degree in School Counseling and her Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Science Education, from Columbus State University, Columbus, GA.

The DoDEA Communications Office initiates and manages DoDEA's communications and outreach efforts worldwide. The office coordinates press relations, internal information programs and communication with students, parents, teachers, school administrators and the public.
