DoDEA employees working at Headquarters are eligible for a variety of transportation services including Mark Center parking permits and the Mass Transportation Benefit Program (MTBP), which provides public transportation subsidies.
In lieu of a parking permit, federal employees are eligible for subsidies toward transportation or vanpool costs. Public transportation subsidies may be obtained by applying online at a CAC enabled DoD computer at WHS Mass transportation Benefit Program.
If you do not have access to a CAC enabled system, you may fill out the paper application. Obtain the application from Eugenia Doran, the DoDEA Transportation Specialist. Include a copy of the back of your SmarTrip® card on your paper application. Fax applications to Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) at 703-697-2144. Note: You are responsible for submitting a monthly claim for transit subsidy benefits by the 15th of the month prior to allocation of benefits. After the claim deadline, benefits are forfeited for the following month and cannot be reinstated.
New employees are eligible to receive up to 10 working days of temporary parking at the Mark Center visitor parking garage. New employees may obtain temporary parking by e-mailing email@example.com and request a temporary parking form. Fill out the form and include “New Employee Parking” in the date column. Additionally, submit your request no later than 2 PM on the business day prior to the date you are requesting.
Once you have your Common Access Card (CAC) and have access to a computer, to obtain a permanent parking permit access the Global Service Desk ticket system from your Desktop and select HQ-Logistics Service Request and choose Permanent Parking and download the form, fill it out and attach it to your ticket prior to submitting it.
Parking permits are allocated on a first come, first serve basis, and a waitlist is implemented when DoDEA spaces are full.
If you have a Motorcycle, you must have a vehicle parking permit approved prior to requesting a motorcycle permit.
Employee parking is in both the South and North Parking Garages. The parking permit will specify which garage the employee is to use and we will try to accommodate requests as to where you want to park but cannot guarantee availability in a specific garage.
Employees who have a doctor’s appointment or who travel through mass transit and have to work early/late may park in the North Parking Garage. These individuals need to request a temporary parking permit 24-hours in advance through the Global Service Desk under HQ-Logistics Service Request. Employees who use mass transit may park at the Mark Center up to five times per month.
Although employees must submit a parking request for vehicle clearance, parking is on a FIRST-COME FIRST-SERVE basis only. If the temporary parking garage is full, the employee have to find alternate parking outside of the garage. There is no DoD alternate solution, and the Parking Office does not reimburse or validate parking. Additional questions can be sent to MarkCenterParking@hq.dodea.edu or call 571-372-1360
Employees may also park at the Mark Center after hours and on weekends for unscheduled and scheduled overtime or to drop off personal items provided they have an authorized parking permit or temporary parking permit and their own CAC.
All Seven line Metrobuses are free with an employee’s CAC. The bus drops employees off at the Mark Center Bus Bay Station. Additionally, employees may pick up Mark Center shuttle transportation at the King Street, Franconia-Springfield, and West Falls Church metro stations and Pentagon Transit Center.
