Welcome to DoDEA’s ServiceOne Onboarding Knowledge Base. This Knowledge Base contains all of our information articles about onboarding. You will find here information which will assist you as you become an integral part of DoDEA, helping to educate our students and serve our military-connected students and families.
Welcome to DoDEA. I am excited that you have chosen to join us as we educate, engage, and empower military-connected students to succeed in a dynamic world. As a learning organization, DoDEA is poised for continuous improvement in providing excellence to each of our students worldwide. Our school system is a driving force in education, and our strategic plan, the Blueprint for Continuous Improvement (Blueprint), is our roadmap for making DoDEA even more impactful, creating success for our students and employees over the next several years.
The Blueprint is a living document designed to address DoDEA’s current and future needs. To meet these needs, our plan centers on five goals: Student Excellence, School Excellence, Talent Excellence, Organizational Excellence, and Outreach Excellence. The Blueprint helps the school system track our progress toward these goals. As a new employee, your contributions are critical for our continued organizational success. Staff will be updated on progress to ensure that we continue to drive tasks toward our strategic initiatives.

As a part of the strategic plan, we continue our work to implement the College and Career Ready Standards (CCRS), which we share with the majority of states. To assess our progress in meeting the standards, DoDEA’s Comprehensive Assessment System (CAS) includes multiple performance-based assessments to measure student progress. One important component of CAS is the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) which assesses student achievement across the United States in multiple subject areas. We are proud of our students. Our students consistently achieve high scores on the NAEP, and in 2018, reading scores for the fourth-and-eighth-grade students in DoD schools tied for first in the nation on the NAEP. Mathematics scores for fourth-graders tied for second highest in the nation, and eighth graders’ scores tied for fourth.
This is a remarkable time to be a part of DoDEA. We are committing ourselves to meet the needs of our students and to deliver excellence in education. Together we will succeed in educating, engaging, and empowering military-connected students.
I look forward to working alongside you as we seek to create excellence in education for every student, every day, everywhere. Thank you for becoming a part of the DoDEA family and team.
