Purpose

Pacific South District Advisory Committees

Installation Advisory Committee (IAC)

The IAC serves as an advisory body to the District Superintendent and the local military installation commander on matters related to the education of military-connected students within their shared jurisdiction. Each IAC advises on issues concerning dependents’ education and provides a forum for communication and collaboration among key stakeholders, helping to identify concerns, discuss educational programs and services, and offer recommendations that support student achievement and well-being. Through this partnership, the committee works to ensure that the needs of dependents are effectively represented and addressed within the DoWEA school system. Installations with two or more schools are required to establish an IAC.

Due to the uniqueness of Okinawa, Pacific South District leadership holds its IAC meetings concurrently, expanding membership to include military leaders from the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and Navy. Parent representatives and School Liaison Officers also serve as members.

IAC Meetings

Installation Advisory Committee

Prior to the December 2025 update of DoDEA Administrative Instruction 1358.01, Installation Advisory Committee (IAC) meetings were not mandatory, and documentation practices varied where IACs were established and conducted. With the issuance of the updated DoDEA AI 1358.01, IACs are required at all Pacific DoWEA locations where two or more schools are present, consistent with authorities outlined in 10 U.S.C. § 2164 and applicable provisions of Title 20 of the United States Code.

*IAC meeting dates for SY 2026-27 will be posted at the start of the 2026-27 school year.
