Department of Defense Education Activity
All students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities whether they be athletic, academic or social in nature. These activities help to shape students and prepare them for the future as part of a well rounded education.

Some of our athletics and activities are Europe based events, which means that there is a culminating area wide championship for athletics that mimics a state championship. Europe Activities are support curriculum and offer area wide available throughout the year that range from art, drama and music to math, language and film/entertainment. More information concerning Europe specific activities can be found under on the DoDEA Europe, Student Activities page.

Algebra Club

Prove It! Algebra Club

Bahrain Elementary School is offering an After-School Algebra Club for students in Grades 2-3. The Algebra Club will give students an opportunity to experience a hands-on mathematical approach of discovering the meaning of operations, creating representation-based proofs, and making claims. More importantly, it will allow your child to experience math through peer-collaboration and independent learning, in the spirit of trying to meet your child’s unique learning style. This is an exciting opportunity for your child to extend his/her mathematical learning, sharpen their mathematical skills, and enhance their attitude toward the subject of mathematics.

The goals for students participating in the Algebra Club:

  • To develop conceptual understanding and build procedural fluency using addition, subtraction, multiplication, number sense, place value, the base-ten number system, etc.
  • To provide additional time for students to make mathematical connections from current learning to future learning (in preparation for algebra).
  • To increase student engagement and a positive attitude towards their own mathematical abilities and skills.

Written permission is needed (space is limited to the first 15 students) for your child to attend the Algebra Club which will meet on the scheduled Wednesdays below. Parents are responsible for transportation after-school at 4:15 PM on Algebra Club days. You will be notified prior to the first club meeting if your child was selected to participate in the After-School Algebra Club.

The After-School Algebra Club will be held until April 29, 2020. The following Wednesday, May 6, 2020, will be the final session culminating in a Family Math Afternoon:

Book Club

"Book Talk” Club

The purpose of the book club is to engage students in different styles of reading, enhance critical thinking skills, and to promote literacy through new approaches.

If your child decides to join, he/she will be reading and discussing a variety of books. Students will share their selected book with others in the group in hopes that others may choose to read their genre of books.

The Book Talk Club will be held every 2 weeks. Our last meeting will be 20 May. This will allow students 2 weeks to read their books prior to sharing with the group. During our first meeting, students will be given the “Book Talk” guidelines and I will distribute a calendar with the scheduled meetings. This is meant to be a very exciting hour where the students get to share some of their favorite books with others.
