Genevieve Chavez, an ELA teacher at @Rota MHS, talks about her Hispanic roots

Hispanic Heritage observations began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and were expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period. The expansion was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.

Ms. Cole was the key employee leading up to the Cognia Accreditation visit in May 2023. Ms. Cole was in weekly communication to effectively coordinate with the Cognia Lead Evaluator on visit logistics and details. She prepared installation access requests for 30 visitors as well as the schedule for the Lead Evaluators and District Superintendent to visit all 31 schools.

Will has been invaluable to the recovery efforts following the damage from Super Typhoon Mawar. His efforts directly ensured the school was ready and enabled the safe and successful Guam High School graduation.

DoDEA honors those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and strengthened our will as one nation and reminded us all about the power of freedom.

DoDEA is actively involved in Suicide Prevention activities and has a variety of resources available to support students in crisis.

DoDEA facilities have been inspected, or re-inspected, for Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) every three years as required by the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) of 1986.

DoDEA celebrates Women’s Equality Day and the passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution which guarantees all American women the right to vote.

Beginning SY 23/24, the DoDEA Security Management Division is adding the Standard Response Protocol "Hold" as a response to non-emergency situations in schools and changing the name of “Lockout” to “Secure.”

The new DoDEA-wide student dress code promotes one gender-neutral dress code across all three regions. Effective Date: July 1, 2023.

As the Europe region equal employment specialist, Robin Jamison demonstrated exceptional dedication when she volunteered to take on significant additional work when the EEO Counselor in the Pacific retired the end of December 2022, leaving her as the sole EEO Counselor for two separate geographical areas; her workload instantly increased by 100%.
