Teacher of the Year (TOY)

The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Teacher of the Year (TOY) Program is designed to recognize and honor outstanding educators with more than three years of teaching experience at a DoDEA school who exemplify the qualities of professionalism and excellence in our teaching workforce.

The Educator of Promise Award was created by the DoDEA Director to honor the legacy and service of retired senior leader and long- time educator, Dr. Linda L. Curtis. The award was created in 2019 to recognize DoDEA educators with less than 3 years of teaching experience with DoDEA who demonstrate teacher leadership qualities.

Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching

Established in 1983, PAEMST is the highest award kindergarten through 12th grade mathematics and science (including computer science) teachers can receive from the U.S. government. The award alternates years between kindergarten through sixth grade and seventh-12th grade teachers..

The new Multidimensional Administrator Performance Appraisal (MAPA) evaluation system for principals and assistant principals is being implemented throughout DoDEA. The MAPA is designed to improve practices in instructional leadership that enhance student achievement and also to recognize effective practices currently in place.
