Barkley's 21st Century building is designed with the open classroom model. With this model, students will have the benefit of more than one teacher. Teachers will be working collaboratively to ensure that our students thrive in today's world. Barkley's 21st Century model of instruction incorporates certain core competencies including collaboration, digital literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

Our school is named after Alben William Barkley, who was Vice President of the United States (1949-1953) under President Harry S. Truman.
He was born in Graves County, KY on Nov. 24, 1877 and died suddenly while making a speech at Lexington, VA on April 30, 1956.

Goal One: Barkley students will increase reading comprehension by utilizing comprehension strategies and skills to include evaluating/ extending meaning, and analyzing text.
Goal Two: All Barkley Students will increase performance in math problem solving skills school-wide by using problem solving processes.
