Dear Heroes Family,
It is my pleasure to welcome new and returning students to Heroes Elementary School (HES). Our school is singularly focused on the pursuit of excellence and our teachers have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming school year with this in mind. Many of our students are new to HES this year; I am starting my first school year here as well. It just so happens that I started my career with DoDEA at the M.C. Perry Schools on Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan. Now, I am honored to serve you amazing Marine Corps families again. Thank you for this privilege.
Please know that our school is staffed with highly qualified personnel who are committed to preparing every student for success. To that end, this year we will implement the College and Career Ready (CCR) Literacy Standards in reading and writing, as well as the new science standards. This year will also bring the introduction of the DoDEA Comprehensive Assessment System (DoDEA CAS) which, when fully developed, will include both summative and formative components that will provide the data required to differentiate instruction.
No one rises to low expectations! We have high expectations for all of our students and we will strive to meet all students’ individual needs. We seek your positive assistance and energy in helping us to improve the quality and effectiveness of the educational experiences we proudly offer. Parents and other community members are welcome and encouraged to support our school. So, please pick up a volunteer packet at the main office and be sure to join our amazing PTO too.
I look forward to a successful and fun-filled school year. If you have any ideas, comments, questions, or thoughts you would like to share, please don't hesitate to contact me. Go Eagles!
