All students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities whether they be athletic, academic or social in nature. These activities help to shape students and prepare them for success after high school as part of a well-rounded education. Our School offers many activities for students to choose from.
It is DoDEA policy that students have the "right to a public education of high quality, including the opportunity to participate in activities," in accordance with Executive
Order 13160, DoDEA Administrative Instruction (Al) 2500.14 and Department of Defense Instruction 1342.12, "without regard to race, sex, color, national origin, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation, or status as a parent." (DoDEA Al 2051.02, Section 4.a.l.,p.2.)

FOR THE LOVE OF POETRY! COMPOSING, READING ALOUD, SHARING WITH THE STUDENT BODY. Involvement Term: YEAR LONG WITH PARTICIPATION IN Night of the Arts, AND NATIONAL POETRY MONTH IN APRIL. BONGOS AND BERETS WILL PLAN AND ORCHESTRATE OUR 17TH ANNUAL POETRY NIGHT IN APRIL WHERE STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO READ THEIR POETRY ALOUD TO THE AUDIENCE.

JSHS is designed to challenge and engage students (Grades 9-12) in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). Individual students compete for scholarships and recognition by presenting the results of their original research efforts before a panel of judges and an audience of their peers in Okinawa and if selected attend an all-expense paid trip to present their original research at the National Competition which in 2019 is in Arizona https://www.jshs.org/

NHS is for high achieving students demonstrating the four pillars the organization upholds: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. The society strives to shape students into rounded characters and role models for their peers around them as well as for their future.
