Kimberly Turnage
Biography
Ms. Kimberly P. Turnage is a distinguished professional with expertise in education, counseling, and human resources. She holds dual Education Specialist Degrees from Mississippi College in Educational Leadership (2010) and Counseling (2008), along with a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling (2004) and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education (2002) from Jackson State University. Throughout her career, she has focused on empowering individuals to achieve their personal, social, and career goals.
Ms. Turnage has significant experience in education, serving as a Middle School Guidance Counselor with the Clinton Public School District in 2007, where she provided counseling and guidance services and worked closely with educators and administrators to address behavioral and social-emotional challenges, enhancing student outcomes. Additionally, Ms. Turnage has served as a Special Education Teacher with the Rankin County School District. Currently, Ms. Turnage works for DoDEA in Iwakuni, Japan, as a special education teacher. She creates strategies to help students to be academically successful and build self-discipline, positive self-images, and strong relationships. She also engages in mentoring and tutoring within her community.
Ms. Turnage previously worked for the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of the Army’s Civilian Human Resources Agency at Fort Riley, Kansas, where she specialized in classification and staffing. She also provided guidance to management and employees, overseeing HR projects and conducting training. She later served as a Supervisory Workforce Management Specialist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in South Korea, advising on HR and management challenges.
Ms. Turnage has served in several organizations during her career, including as a member of the Chi Sigma Iota Honor Society, the Chairperson of the Special Education Case Study Committee, and with the Mississippi Association of Educators and the American Counseling Association. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring different countries, cultures, and cuisines, reflecting her passion for global experiences.
