Course Description

The Asian Culture (semester) course investigates historical and contemporary developments which have influenced the cultural characteristics of China, Japan, and India. Surveying the historical development of these three major nations from pre-history to the present, students connect the major characteristics of Asian societies and their influences on foreign affairs, economics, and demographic trends of the 21st century. Studies include developing in-depth projects, creating problem based situations to compare cultural, geographic and historical information across cultures, and analyzing relationships among the social, economic and political problems that diverse Asian populations, both suburban and urban, face. Course Note: This course fulfills the Social Studies Elective (.5) requirement.
