Geometry B

School year
2023 - 2024
Course Description

Geometry B is the second semester of Geometry, a course required for graduation and aligned with the College and Career Ready Standards for Mathematics in High School. Throughout this course, students will build on middle grades geometric learning to explore more complex geometric situations and strengthen explanations of geometric relationships. Students learn to explore geometry from a transformational approach, starting with defining congruence as a series of rigid transformations that map one figure to another. Students also explore three-dimensional geometry and also connect geometry to algebra with analytic geometry. Through the content, students will build mathematical habits of mind as described by the Standards for Mathematical Practice (SMPs). Course Note: Geometry A must also be completed for the full Geometry credit.
