Course Description

The Health Education 8 (year long) course encourages eighth grade students to practice health literacy;the capacity to access information, resources, and services necessary to maintaining and promoting health. Course concepts are aligned to then national health education standards and include a developmentally appropriate focus on personal and commnunity health, safety and injury prevention, and nutrition and physical activity. Students engage in skills-based instruction to practice interpersonal communication, analyze influences on health decisions and demonstrate self-care practices in health promotion and disease.
