Course Description

“My Community and Other Communities” Students will use geographic reasoning to identify characteristics that define urban, suburban, and rural communities. Democratic principles and participation in government are introduced. By examining human environmental modifications, students will determine the positive and negative effects humans can have on the environment. Students will investigate the concept of change over time and determine causes and effects of historical developments. During this in-depth study of communities, students will learn how the availability of resources promotes interdependence within and across communities.
