DoDEA Pacific announces Far East Cheer Competition Results

Pacific —

The Department of Defense Education Activity - Pacific Region is pleased to announce the results of the first-ever virtual Far East Cheer Competition:

Division 1

  • 1st Place: Kadena High School, DoDEA Pacific South District
  • 2nd Place: Kubasaki High School, DoDEA Pacific South District
  • 3rd Place: Guam High School, DoDEA Pacific West District

Division 2

  • 1st Place: Edgren Middle High School, DoDEA Pacific East District
  • 2nd Place: Yokota High School, DoDEA Pacific East District
  • 3rd Place: MC Perry High School, DoDEA Pacific East District

Each participating cheer squad submitted a video recording of its routine and received scores in the areas of Cheer, Jumps, Dance, Tumbling, and Transitions, with judges also taking into account sharpness of motions, uniformity, and overall performance.

“We are excited to have been able to offer this unique, virtual competition opportunity to our cheer teams across the Pacific,” said DoDEA Pacific Far East Athletic Program Coordinator Tom McKinney. “While we couldn’t come together in-person due to COVID-19, it was important for us to provide a meaningful outlet for our student athletes.”

The Far East Athletics Office would like to thank Mackenzie Warren, Ariel Sabas, Megan Lieberman, and Nicolas Tomas, all members of the San Diego State University Cheerleading Team; as well as four-time NCA All-American cheerleader and Kubasaki High School alumna Patricia Ornauer for volunteering to judge this year’s virtual Far East Cheer competition.
