Dr. Jacqueline Ferguson, DoDEA Pacific East District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Quiana Obeng as Principal at Yokota Middle School.
Dr. Obeng, known to many as “Dr. Q,” brings more than two decades of experience in education to Yokota Middle School. Throughout her career, she has focused on remaining grounded in results, building relationships, and a strong commitment to excellence.
She began her career as a secondary math teacher in New York City Public Schools and went on to become a founding faculty member at the prestigious Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy in Atlanta, where she served in multiple leadership roles and was honored as Teacher of the Year (2010–2011).
Dr. Obeng holds a master’s degree in accounting from Fordham University, a master’s degree in mathematics education from Lehman College, and education specialist and doctoral degrees from Argosy University. In 2015, she joined the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) as a Secondary Math Instructional Support Specialist in the Pacific East District, later serving as Assistant Principal at Nile C. Kinnick High School and Acting Principal at both Ikego and The Sullivans Elementary Schools. In 2023, she expanded her leadership influence as a Professional Practice Improvement Specialist with the Americas Center for Instructional Leadership, where she coached school and district leaders across the region.
In 2024, Dr. Obeng returned to the Pacific—this time to the Pacific South District—as Assistant Principal at Kubasaki High School, continuing her mission of championing instructional excellence, elevating student voice, and leading systemic improvement.
In her new role as principal of Yokota Middle School, Dr. Obeng is dedicated to leading with clarity, compassion, and conviction. Aligned with DoDEA’s mission to educate, engage, and empower military-connected students to succeed in a dynamic world, Dr. Obeng remains committed to fostering excellence in every classroom, developing teacher leadership, and ensuring every student is seen, supported, and set up for lifelong success.
