Dr. Michelle Howard-Brahaney, DoDEA Europe Director for Student Excellence, is pleased to announce the selection of Elizabeth Fales as the new DoDEA Europe East District Superintendent.

“Elizabeth is a proven leader with a wealth of experience, making her an exceptional choice for this critical position. Her extensive background and demonstrated leadership skills have consistently driven success and innovation. I am proud to announce her selection to this vital role; she will continue to excel and contribute significantly to our organization’s growth and achievements,” said Brahaney.

Fales joined DoDEA in 2010 as the Early Childhood English Language Arts and Social Studies Instructional Systems Specialist in the then South Carolina/Fort Stewart/Cuba District. Following that, Fales served at DoDEA Headquarters as the Humanities Program Manager where she was responsible for the day-to-day operations and College and Career Ready Standards (CCRS) roll-out of the K-12 ELA/literacy, Social Studies, World Languages, Library, and Fine Arts programs. She also served as a Professional Practice and Improvement Specialist (PPIS) in the Europe Center for Instructional Leadership. As a PPIS, Elizabeth supported school administrators through coaching and job-embedded professional learning.

Prior to joining DoDEA, Elizabeth was a general education classroom teacher, a reading specialist, a teacher of gifted and talented, and a Reading First Reading Coach for the Ferguson-Florissant School District in her hometown of Saint Louis, Missouri. In Fales’ latest position, she served as the Community Superintendent for Stuttgart and Ansbach Schools in DoDEA Europe’s East District.

Fales holds two master’s degrees, one in Elementary Education and one in Supervision and Leadership. She is currently working on her PhD in Instructional and Human Performance Technology. Fales is married to Stephan, a retired member of the United States Air Force and current DoDEA educator.

“As the Superintendent of DoDEA Europe's East District, Fales will tirelessly pursue the best possible outcomes to support all students' social, emotional, and academic needs. She will provide decisive leadership to DoDEA's leaders, staff, and parents, ensuring the highest quality education for students. She brings an exceptional instructional background combined with extensive leadership experience,” said Brahaney.
