Matthew Rickett Selected as Andersen Elementary, Assistant Principal

USAG Humphreys, Korea —
Dr. Jeff Arrington, DoDEA Pacific West District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Matthew Rickett as assistant principal of Andersen Elementary School.
Mr. Matthew Rickett is an avid learner who is excited to bring his career and family to the Andersen community. He and his family are joining the Dolphin community from South Korea. Mr. Rickett has been an active guide and participant in learning communities for over 23 years. Mr. Rickett proudly served the US Army as a Combat Medic from 1991 to 1994 and in the South Dakota Army National Guard from 1994 to 1997. Upon the complete of his service, Mr. Rickett began his journey in the field of education.
Mr. Rickett earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Dakota in 1997. He earned his Masters of Exercise Physiology in 1999 as well as a Masters in Adapted Physical Education in 2001 from Texas A&M University. Mr. Rickett completed his Masters of Educational Leadership in 2012 from Sam Houston State University.
Mr. Rickett began his career with DoDEA in 2016 at Camp Humphreys, South Korea. Prior to that, Mr. Rickett held diverse positions in education. He taught physical education and adapted Physical Education for public schools in Texas and Florida. He also taught internationally in Vietnam. Mr. Rickett served the USDA’s National Forest Service as an Education Manager and as Disability Coordinator at Fort Simcoe Job Corps in Washington. Mr. Rickett appreciates the diverse roles he has been afforded the opportunity to experience in the field of education. He believes each role has been an incredible learning opportunity. With these diverse experiences and understandings, he joins the AES team.
Mr. Rickett feels honored to become part of the system at AES that supports the mission of our families and our young learners.

DoDEA also provides support and resources to Local Educational Activities throughout the United States that serve children of military families.
