Ms. Andrea Prior Selected as Assistant Principal Iwakuni Elementary Complex Schools

Iwakuni, Japan —
Dr. Judy Allen, DoDEA Pacific East District Superintendent is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Andrea Prior as Assistant Principal for Iwakuni Elementary Complex Schools.
Andrea Prior started her educational teaching career supporting diverse populations in Arizona. Having been raised in a family of educators, her trait of being an active lifelong learner was developed at an early age and she continues to share her passion for learning. Ms. Prior joined DODEA in 2002 as a teacher at R.E. Byrd Elementary located in Yokohama, Japan. She has continued to serve the Yokosuka complex in many teaching roles to include Sure Start, kindergarten through fifth grade, Literacy Support Specialist and as an ESOL teacher at The Sullivans School and Ikego Elementary. Most recently she has been working as the Information Specialist at Ikego Elementary School in Zushi, Japan.
As an educational leader, Ms. Prior has 20 years of on-site teaching experiences and expertise wherein she has devoted time to strengthening instructional practices, building a positive culture of communication to ensure support and alignment of shared initiatives through her roles as a team leader, CSI Chair, CSI Data Chair, Student Support Team Chair and Focused Collaboration committee work. She believes trust, active listening, real world experiences and a shared vision helps to keep students at the heart of what we do.
Ms. Prior holds degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education with emphasis areas in Multicultural and Diverse Education, English and Music. She also has earned Advanced degrees in Educational Leadership and Administration with a focus on Curriculum and Assessment. In addition, she holds certifications in Information Specialist in Library Science, English as a Second Language, and a Reading Support Specialist.
She looks forward to getting to know and working together with the Iwakuni Schools and Community to help ensure every student has opportunities to succeed and be provided with the tools they need and deserve to grow as learners in a safe and caring environment.
