Ms. April Taylor selected for Instructional Systems Specialist, School Psychology and Section 504

Dr. Jacob Sherwood, Pacific West District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. April Taylor as Instructional Systems Specialist for School Psychology and Section 504.
Ms. April Taylor is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, with over a decade of experience working in education. As a School Psychologist, she has worked in private practice at The Center for Psychological Services in Arlington, Texas and various public school systems, including Denver Public Schools, Dallas ISD, Mesquite ISD and Life Schools of Dallas. During her time at Life Schools, she developed the district's first suicide risk and assessment protocol and served as the district leader in mental health services and psychoeducation assessment best practices and procedures.
Ms. Taylor finds great fulfillment in helping schools build foundations and systems that enhance students' social and emotional competency while also growing the capacity of teachers.
Ms. Taylor also takes immense joy in mentoring other school psychologists and special education teachers in her career and strives to improve the impact of psychological services and the mental health of children.
Ms. Taylor joined DoDEA network in 2021, and began working as the assessor, school psychologist and 504 coordinator at WT Sampson, in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Ms. Taylor is committed to improving student outcomes, strengthening other school psychologists and advocating for the indispensable work school psychologists do in the Pacific West Region.
Ms. Taylor enjoys quality time with friends and family and staying up to date on social impact issues around the world.
