Okinawa, Japan —
Department of Defense Education Activity – Pacific Center for Instructional Leadership Chief Dr. Chris Marczak is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Shannon White as Professional Development Specialist with Pacific CIL.
Ms. White began her career in education in the late 1990s as a high school math teacher in Berkshire County, MA, where she dedicated 20 years to fostering a love for mathematics among her students. In 2017, she joined DoDEA as a high school mathematics teacher at Camp Lejeune, NC, where she had the honor and privilege of supporting military families with her passion, expertise, and dedication. Her journey with DoDEA continued in 2021 when she became the Secondary Math Instructional Systems Specialist (ISS) for the Mid-Atlantic Region, stationed at Fort Buchanan, PR. Most recently, she served as the Secondary Math ISS for the Pacific South District in Okinawa, Japan.
Throughout her career, Ms. White has been an advocate for mathematics education, guiding her work as an instructional leader and coach in both the Mid-Atlantic and Pacific South Districts. She looks forward to bringing her experience and background in College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS), student-centered learning, and professional development to her new role with the Pacific CIL.Â
Ms. White is currently pursuing her Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership through Liberty University. She holds a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Westfield State University.
Ms. White is accompanied by her husband of 25 years, Steve, and their son Stephen, a 2024 DoDEA graduate of Kubasaki High School. They also have five adult children and three grandchildren living in the United States. Outside of work Ms. White enjoys spending time with her husband, relaxing at the beach, exploring new local areas, dining out or reading a good book.Â
Ms. White looks forward to serving the educational leaders within the Pacific Region. Her goal is to be an encouragement, support, and resource to all those she works with, continuing her commitment to excellence in education and professional development.
