New Principal named at Murray Elementary School

Mr. Brian Perry, the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Fort Stewart/South Carolina Community Superintendent, selected Ms. Andrea Marr as the principal for Charles P. Murray Elementary School at Fort Stewart, Georgia, effective April 13.

"Ms. Marr brings a wealth of knowledge and experiences to Murray Elementary School,” said Mr. Perry. “She has a strong background as an instructional leader and successful experience in leading professional learning communities. We look forward to her joining the Fort Stewart/ South Carolina team."

Ms. Marr has been affiliated with the military-connected community for more than 20 years as a service member and educator working in multiple states. She started her educational career in Harnett County School District as an english and history teacher in Spring Lake, North Carolina. She also worked as an instructional coach and common core implementation leader for language arts in this district. During her time with Harnett County, Ms. Marr was the Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Marr also worked for the Yuma Union High School District in Yuma, Arizona, where she served as the Ready Now Yuma Director of Cambridge International Curriculum. During her time as director, she worked with the Helios Foundation to successful improve ACT and Cambridge Examinations scores for all content areas. In 2017, Ms. Marr started working in DoDEA as the Barsanti Elementary School assistant principal in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

“I could not be more excited to be returning to DoDEA to serve our military families,” said Ms. Marr. “I embrace the opportunity to partner with the Fort Stewart community to provide our students with a rigorous, engaging and memorable school experience. Go Navigators!”

In 2018, Ms. Marr earned her Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Liberty University. She has earned a Master of Science Degree in Administration from Walden University, a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and a K-12 Structured English Immersion endorsement from Arizona Western University.

Ms. Marr is an Army veteran, who served as a military police officer and member of The Old Guard in Arlington, Virginia. She replaces Mr. Brian Perry, who is now the community superintendent, as the principal.
